Q: What are NORDIC DIAMOND-DEK and DIAMOND-GRID Tiles?
A: NORDIC Floor Tiles are the “Rolls-Royce” of interlocking Garage Floor Tiles. They are made of tough polypropylene plastic and measure 15″ square and 3/8″ thick. They click together to form a seamless floor surface. The unique design means the floor is supported on a framework of legs which allow it to carry heavy weights and at the same time provide a cushion effect.
Q: What are NORDIC Tiles made of ?
A: NORDIC Floor Tiles are made from 100% virgin, environmentally friendly, recyclable UVstabilized polypropylene and do not harbor bacteria or moulds. They are not affected by solvents, gasoline or other automotive chemicals.
Q: Can I Mix & Match NORDIC DIAMOND-DEK and DIAMOND-GRID Tiles?
A: Yes. Tiles can be mixed and matched; colors and patterns can be coordinated to create your own unique designs. Edges and corners provide a safe and beautiful finish!
Q: What are NORDIC flexTABS™
A: All NORDIC Floor patterns feature our exclusive, built-in flexTABS™. These flexTABS™ connect the tiles together, absorb tile expansion with changes in temperature, and eliminate “tile buckling” common to most other tile systems.
Q: Why do flexTABS™ make NORDIC Floors the Rolls-Royce of garage flooring?
A: NORDIC flexTABS™ allow DIAMOND-DEK and DIAMOND-GRID floors to expand and contract naturally with changes in temperature. This natural expansion prevents NORDIC floor tiles from creating “waves” across the garage floor due to heat expansion. This means that NORDIC Floor Systems can be laid tight to outside walls without leaving any gaps. * Most other brands of interlocking types of garage flooring are plastic floor tiles that will eventually buckle and raise-up with heat expansion due to too tight wall confinement in garages.
Q: Why do NORDIC DIAMOND-DEK and DIAMOND-GRID have joints between the tiles ?
A: DIAMOMD-DEK and DIAMOND-GRID floor systems feature our exclusive NORDIC flexTABS™ with built-in expansion. flexTABS™ connect the floor tiles together with an expansion space, or joint, between tiles to allow tiles to work together properly in various temperatures. The built-in flexTABS™ design means that DIAMOND-DEK and DIAMONDGRID Tiles will not create “waves” due to temperature variations, unlike many other brands of competitive garage floors.
Q: Can I see the joints?
A: Not easily with the DIAMOND-GRID Tiles. In fact, our customers frequently tell us “we didn’t realize how good it would look once it was laid.” The DIAMOND-DEK joints appear the same as grout lines with any tiles already in your home.
Q: In what areas can NORDIC Floor Systems be used?
A: DIAMOND-DEK and DIAMOND-GRID Tiles can be through out your entire home or business. Install them in your Garage, Storeroom, Laundry Room, Sauna, Mudroom, Balcony, Patio, Pool area, Office and more.
Q: Do NORDIC Floor Systems attach to the garage floor ?
A: No. NORDIC Flooring is a “free floating” system that is designed to be installed between the existing Garage walls and be supported on level, hard surfaces. No glue, tape or adhesives are required. The weight of the floor holds it in place. Floor tiles can be easily and quickly removed for repairs, cleaning or storage.
Q: How do I cut NORDIC Floor Tiles for custom installations?
A: Yes. NORDIC Floor Tiles can be cut with a jigsaw, table saw, bandsaw or contract-grade utility knife. You can even use a hacksaw. The tiles cut like plywood.
Q: Why do NORDIC DIAMOND-GRID Tiles have an open, ventilated pattern ?
A: The unique surface textures and designs give the floor surface maximum gripping power – the best anti-slip flooring surface we know! The perforations allow for drainage in wet situations and they also allow any moisture under the tiles to dry out.
Q: Can I see the floor beneath my NORDIC DIAMOND-GRID Tiles?
A: Only if you stop and look directly down. As you walk into the room, all you see is the beautiful DIAMOND-GRID surface designed to your own specification.
Q: What about dirt or liquids that may spill or fall between the joints ?
A: You will be surprised at what doesn’t go down the holes! Any dust which does go through is easily sucked back up with a dry / wet vacuum cleaner. And most liquids will evaporate. Any water that does flow between the joints will drain naturally with the slope of the garage floor because of the channels that are designed into the base of the tiles to allow the flow of liquids. The free airflow around the tiles allows them to dry out quickly.
Q: How do I clean NORDIC DIAMOND-DEK and DIAMOND-GRID Floor Tiles?
A: How do you clean your floor now? You sweep or vacuum it and then mop off any muddy marks if required. In wet areas NORDIC Tiles can be hosed / pressure washed or mechanically scrubbed. Any remaining water underneath will normally dry out overnight, or can be removed with a wet vacuum cleaner. Remove stubborn marks with Simple Green or other similar cleaners. Because NORDIC Tiles are polypropylene, which is highly resistant to stains, most clean-ups are performed easily.
Q: Can I remove a single Tile in the middle of the floor without tearing out to the edge?
A: Yes. Use a flat-edged screwdriver to pop-out a single tile from the middle without affecting the rest of the floor.
Q: Can I drive my car or truck on NORDIC DIAMOND-DEK or DIAMOND-GRID Tiles?
A: Yes, absolutely! NORDIC Floor Tiles are made to withstand whatever heavy loads you want to put on them. They are strong, durable and designed to hold as much as 400 tons in a 10′ square area.
Q: Can I use a floor jack or jack stands on NORDIC Floors?
A: Yes. Heavy tool cabinets, creepers, floor jacks, engine stands and other items on wheels will not affect the NORDIC Floor Tiles. Any sharp, bottom edges should have some sort of protection under them to prevent gouging into the floor tiles.
Q: Are NORDIC DIAMOND-DEK and DIAMOND-GRID Tiles comfortable to walk on?
A: Yes. Both NORDIC Tile patterns are easy to walk on and are quite comfortable for bare feet – even the smallest women’s high heels won’t get stuck in the DIAMONG-GRID pattern. The built-in “spring cushion” to the tiles make them better for your knees and back than a cement floor.
Q: Are NORDIC DIAMOND-DEK Tiles slippery when wet ?
A: No. NORDIC DIAMOND-DEK Tiles are a solid surface with a raised pattern that provides a safe, non-slip surface to walk on.
Q: Can NORDIC Floor Tiles be used outside?
A: Yes. DIAMOND-DEK and DIAMOND-GRID Floor Tiles can be used inside or outside, all year long.
Q: Will NORDIC Floor Tiles fade?
A: No. All NORDIC Tiles are UV (Arizona sun) resistant. Some NORDIC Floor systems have been installed on major cruise liners and their UV stability and long term in-service life (15- 20 years) has been a major benefit.
Q: How long will DIAMOND-DEK and DIAMOND-GRID Tiles last?
A: All NORDIC Floor Systems come with a 12 year warranty. Some floors have been around for more than 19 years and are still looking great! If there is wear in a particular area, it can be exchanged for a less used section of the floor.
Q: Can I take NORDIC Floors with me when I move?
A: Certainly. We can supply you with an “Unzip Tool” and your lovely custom designed NORDIC Floor can be uplifted and moved to your new location, where it can be reconfigured to suit.
